PAUL HOLDEN-RIDGWAY

With over 30 years of hands-on experience in survival and bushcraft, I’ve dedicated my life to exploring and teaching the skills that connect us to the natural world. My journey began during my time with the Royal Marines Commando, where I honed my abilities in some of the planet’s most challenging environments—deep in the jungles of Belize, within the Arctic Circle of Norway, and across the wild landscapes of the UK and the USA.

Among the many aspects of survival, I’m particularly passionate about the knowledge and use of medicinal trees, plants, and fungi. These natural resources hold incredible potential—not just for survival, but for thriving in harmony with our environment. I’m equally fascinated by the art of tracking and the wisdom of ancient and indigenous cultures, who developed and refined these skills to live sustainably and successfully in their surroundings.

In recent years, I’ve been delving deeper into the extraordinary world of fungi, uncovering their vital role in the symbiotic systems that sustain life on Earth. These explorations fuel my teaching, as I aim to inspire others to see nature not just as a backdrop but as a partner in adventure, resilience, and discovery.

Through Earth Trails Wilderness Skills, I look forward to sharing my knowledge and helping you build confidence, capability, and a profound connection with the natural world. Whether you’re learning archery, exploring bushcraft, or diving into the science of ecosystems, every skill we teach is grounded in a love for the wild and a commitment to empowering you for the journey ahead.
